Statewide Heavy Rainfall Predicted for Sunday, Temperature Drop Expected

Meteorological department predicts heavy rainfall across the state today, with a notable drop in temperature.

JAMSHEDPUR – City residents can expect heavy rain on Sunday.

Harrowed by a long period of scorching summer-heat, everyone in the steel city has been eagerly awaiting the much-anticipated monsoon rains.

The wait seems to be over. Almost.

The Met department expects heavy rainfall in the entire state on Sunday, including in Jamshedpur.

Despite daily cloud cover, rain has remained elusive, leading to a resurgence in the oppressive heat. Friday saw intense heat from 8 am to 5 pm, followed by pleasant weather brought on by a light drizzle and wind.

The Meteorological Department, however, predicts widespread heavy rainfall across the state for Sunday.

The changing weather patterns have already seen a drop in temperature by five degrees over the past couple of days, though humidity remains high.

Meteorologists foresee more substantial rainfall in the coming days, which is expected to lead to further decreases in both maximum and minimum temperatures, providing relief from the ongoing heat.

The weather center’s forecasts have been inconsistent for the last three days, predicting daily rainfall that hasn’t materialized. While maximum temperatures are dropping, minimum temperatures remain constant, with a record of 28.3 degrees on Saturday.

The current weather scenario seems like a game of hide and seek between the clouds and the sun. Meteorologist Abhishek Anand indicates a high likelihood of rain across all districts of Jharkhand on June 25 and 26, with some regions expecting heavy downpours. He predicts consistent statewide rainfall over the next five days.

On Saturday, the maximum temperature recorded was 36 degrees, with Godda recording the highest temperature at 37.2 degrees. Chaibasa received the most rainfall at 4 mm.
