Chakulia to Get 7 MW Solar Plant in Rs 10 Crore Push

Solar city project aimed at easing power shortages across border regions

CHAKULIA – East Singhbhum district will receive a major renewable energy boost through a new solar power project planned at Purnapani in Chakulia block.

Meanwhile, the facility will cover nearly 20 acres in the region.

The project will carry an estimated investment of Rs 10 crore.

Moreover, the solar unit will generate nearly seven megawatts of electricity.

The work will be supervised by Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency.

Besides, officials planned the foundation ceremony for May 23.

Baharagora MLA Sameer Mohanty will attend the land worship programme.

Furthermore, the company completed an inspection of the proposed construction location.

The generated electricity will reach nearby power distribution centres.

Additionally, supply lines will serve homes, institutions, and local consumers.

Several areas of Baharagora block will also receive electricity connections.

Meanwhile, residents expected fewer outages during intense summer months.

Power interruptions had troubled many villages across the surrounding belt.

Moreover, people believed industries could benefit from stronger electricity supply.

Small businesses and local enterprises also expected operational improvements.

In addition, authorities expected reduced dependence on conventional power sources.

The project relied entirely on solar-based electricity generation systems.

Furthermore, residents viewed the initiative as environmentally beneficial.

Carbon emissions were expected to decline after commissioning of the facility.

Besides, officials planned to develop Chakulia into Jharkhand’s second solar city.

Local residents also hoped the region would emerge as a solar hub.

A source said uninterrupted electricity would improve daily life considerably.

Meanwhile, the project could strengthen regional infrastructure in coming years.
