Monsoon Rains Elevate River Levels in Jamshedpur, Authorities Urge Caution

District Administration Issues Safety Advisory as Kharkai and Swarnarekha Rivers Rise

Rising water levels in Jamshedpur’s rivers prompt officials to call for public vigilance and adherence to safety guidelines.

JAMSHEDPUR – Authorities have issued safety advisories for residents in flood-prone areas as a result of the continuous monsoon rainfall, which have caused water levels in the Kharkai and Swarnarekha rivers to rise.

The Swarnarekha River has attained 116.56 meters at the Mango Bridge site, which is still below its danger mark of 121.50 meters.

The Kharkai River is currently at 126.81 meters at the Adityapur Bridge site, and it is nearing its hazard level of 129.00 meters.

The situation is being closely monitored by district officials, who have implemented a variety of safety measures.

If you reside in coastal or flood-prone areas, it is highly recommended that you avoid riverbanks and relocate to higher ground.

The administration underscores the significance of adhering to official regulations in order to prevent the potential loss of life or property.

Emergency response teams are prepared to promptly address any flooding incidents.

The hazards associated with rising water levels are the subject of public awareness campaigns, which are being implemented to inform citizens.

An official declared, "The monsoon rains are indispensable; however, they also present obstacles that necessitate diligence and readiness." We encourage citizens to prioritize safety, remain informed, and provide support to one another during this season.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was observed traveling through numerous regions, such as the northeast Bay of Bengal and Jharkhand.

Although no heavy rain alert has been issued for Monday and Tuesday, meteorologists predict that isolated locations will experience significant rainfall on Wednesday, August 7.

The rain deficit in Jharkhand has been substantially diminished to 32% as a result of recent precipitation.

The state has received 359 mm of rain during this period, which is below the average of 536 mm, as indicated by the most recent statistics.
