AURANGABAD- Two children died after drowning in a river while retrieving a cricket ball during an evening game in Bihar’s Aurangabad district.

The incident occurred near Pawai village under Aurangabad Muffasil police station. The victims were identified as Arya Vishwakarma and Shivam Kumar.

Meanwhile, both children belonged to Titai Bigha village. Their deaths shocked residents across the locality.

According to relatives, several children were playing cricket near the field. During the match, the ball entered the nearby Batane River.

However, Arya, Shivam and Vishnukant entered the river to retrieve it. Soon afterward, all three boys started drowning.

Meanwhile, a local youth named Guddu noticed the boys struggling. He immediately raised an alarm and jumped into the river.

Moreover, several villagers joined the rescue effort moments later. They somehow managed to pull all three children from the water.

The boys were first taken to a private clinic in Sundarganj. Doctors found Vishnukant in stable condition afterward.

However, Arya and Shivam remained critical during treatment. Both children were later shifted to the sadar hospital.

Doctors declared the two boys dead after examination. Their deaths triggered grief across the entire village.

Meanwhile, hundreds of villagers gathered at the hospital premises. Family members were seen crying outside the emergency ward.

Police later reached the hospital after receiving information. Officers took custody of both bodies for legal procedures.

Moreover, officials started further investigation into the incident. Local residents demanded stronger safety measures near riverside areas.

Such drowning incidents often increase during summer evenings. Children frequently gather near rivers for outdoor games in rural Bihar.
