Enumeration Phase to Run From June 30 to July 29 Across District
Key Points:
- Door-to-door BLO survey begins June 30, runs through July 29
- Document verification phase set for August 5 to October 3
- Final voter list to be published on October 7, 2026
JAMSHEDPUR – The district administration has announced a detailed timeline for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, with house-to-house enumeration set to begin later this month.
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan shared the schedule during a press briefing held at the Samaharanalaya auditorium. He said Booth Level Officers would visit homes and distribute enumeration forms to voters between June 30 and July 29.
No documents will be collected from voters during this initial phase, according to the deputy commissioner. Both mapped and unmapped voters will need to fill out the enumeration form, attach a recent photograph and sign it.
One copy of the form must be submitted to the BLO, while voters should retain a second copy with an acknowledgment receipt. Ranjan added that special arrangements have been made for migrant workers and students studying outside the state.
Absentee voters can have an adult family member sign the form on their behalf. The form, available through the ECINET portal or other electronic means, must mention the family member’s name and relationship before being sent online to the BLO.
Document verification will be required only from flagged voters, the deputy commissioner clarified. This stage will run from August 5 to October 3, 2026.
Voters whose names already appear in the previous Special Intensive Revision list will not need to submit any additional documents. He said the same exemption would extend to their children for proof of parentage.
However, voters whose names, or their parents’ names, are missing from the earlier list must submit a self-attested copy of one of 11 documents specified by the Election Commission. These include birth certificates, passports, educational certificates, permanent residence certificates, caste certificates, family registers and land records, known locally as khatian.
Submitting an Aadhaar card copy alone will not suffice, Ranjan noted. Applicants must still provide one of the other listed documents alongside it.
Eligible Indian citizens not currently registered as voters will need to submit Form 6 along with a declaration, he said. Voters can also seek help through the Voter Helpline number 1950, the ECINET portal or its mobile application for any queries.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission’s published calendar lists further key dates. The draft voter list will be released on August 5, followed by a window for claims and objections running through September 4.
Objections will be settled by October 3, with the final electoral roll published on October 7, 2026. Besides the enumeration drive, meetings of BLOs, BLA-2 representatives and Election Pathshala members will be held at all polling booths on June 30.
Voter awareness programs are also planned in schools and various institutions as part of the revision exercise.
