Rapido Drivers Protest Over Falling Earnings in City

Drivers Warn of Service Shutdown if Payments Not Revised

Key Points:

  • Drivers Say Falling Payments Hurt Daily Livelihood
  • Losses Reported in Trips Due to Reduced Fares
  • Warning Issued Over Possible Service Shutdown

JAMSHEDPUR – Rapido drivers in the city have raised concerns over falling payments affecting their income.

Drivers operating bike taxis in Jamshedpur have voiced strong dissatisfaction. They said earnings have declined steadily in recent months.

Moreover, they claimed fares have been reduced by the company. This has made sustaining daily expenses increasingly difficult.

Drivers stated they provide affordable travel to commuters. However, their own income continues to shrink.

In several cases, drivers reported losses per trip. Meanwhile, some claimed losses reached nearly ₹40 per ride.

They said rising inflation has worsened their financial condition. Moreover, daily expenses have increased sharply across sectors.

Vehicle loan payments remain a major burden for drivers. In addition, maintenance and fuel costs continue to rise.

Drivers warned of collective action if issues remain unresolved. Meanwhile, they hinted at protests in the coming days.

They also compared the situation with earlier app-based service disruptions. However, they warned similar steps could be taken again.

If payments are not revised, drivers may halt Rapido services. The situation could impact urban mobility in the city.
