JAMSHEDPUR – Governor Santosh Gangwar expressed concern that today’s children remain confined to mobile phones, disconnected from societal realities.
He addressed the fourth Bal Mela at Sakchi. Moreover, he emphasized reconnecting children with society. This remains a significant challenge, he stated.
“Attending events like Bal Mela brings pleasant experiences,” he said. However, the fair represents childhood innocence and future direction. Children’s rights require substantial work ahead.
Governor Gangwar highlighted Jharkhand’s pressing needs. “Malnutrition poses a major problem in Jharkhand,” he noted. Furthermore, efforts to eliminate malnutrition need acceleration.
The Governor described Bal Mela as more than an event. In addition, it unites various societal segments. Parents, teachers, doctors, nurses and elected representatives participate.
Social organizations, corporate sector and media also join. Besides, civil society contributes to the platform. Five foundational pillars support children’s development, he explained.
Affection, nutrition, education, security and opportunities are crucial. On the other hand, these elements build prosperous nations. Tribal communities believe children belong to entire communities.
“This belief offers invaluable lessons,” he emphasized. However, community support and collective responsibility matter greatly. He witnessed children’s talents at the fair.
“They love nature deeply,” the Governor observed. Moreover, they represent our real assets. Parents should allow children freedom to study.
They must listen and provide conducive environments. Nevertheless, girl child education deserves special attention. “An educated daughter strengthens society,” he stressed.
Children represent today’s priority, he added. Furthermore, environments enabling healthy, educated children are essential. MLA Saryu Roy’s 2022 initiative now thrives.
Bal Mela has become a powerful platform. Besides, it raises awareness about children’s rights. Nutrition, education and health receive focus.
The fair runs between National Children’s Day and World Children’s Day. However, it celebrates childhood innocence and bright hopes. This year’s theme emphasizes nurturing with love.
“Loving environments empower future citizens,” the Governor noted. Meanwhile, he released a 40-page colorful souvenir. Anand Singh edited the publication.
Dr. Tripura Jha, Chandradeep Pandey and Anita Sharma served as editorial board members. In addition, the Governor received his portrait. Artist Viplav Da created Bal Mela images.
Deepankar Karmakar painted the Governor’s portrait. Furthermore, presentations and gifts marked the occasion. Saryu Roy recalled the fair’s origins.
The first Bal Mela occurred in 2022. However, 2020-21 lockdown transformed his residence. His home became a community kitchen serving thousands.
Volunteers risked lives distributing meals daily. Moreover, children suffered most during the pandemic. Their mental state reflected adverse impacts significantly.
“We started on Children’s Day considering proper development,” he explained. Besides, World Children’s Day marks the conclusion. The fair ends on November 20 annually.
“Children should be strong and talented,” Roy stated. Furthermore, they must propel the nation forward. Government and private schools sent students enthusiastically.
Schools also deputed trainers for various activities. On the other hand, every Jamshedpur competition features here. Next year’s fair will occupy larger space.
“We want participation from across Jharkhand,” he added. However, psychological impacts needed addressing urgently. Children require preparation for future challenges.
Non-schoolgoing children also participated in competitions. Meanwhile, efforts continue making Jamshedpur child-friendly. “We will release the Jamshedpur Declaration soon,” Roy announced.
He revealed 4,200 children participated across 18 competitions. Besides, diverse activities engaged participants throughout. PM Shri Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya students welcomed guests.
Patmada school girls performed band music enthusiastically. Furthermore, lamp lighting and national anthem commenced proceedings. Ashutosh Roy presented shawl and plant.
Anshul Sharan offered memento to the Governor. Moreover, multiple dignitaries received honors during ceremony. Raghavendra Pratap Singh honored MLA Saryu Roy.

Mamta Singh offered memento to Roy. Besides, Prakash Koya welcomed Anshul Sharan. Reena presented memento to Sharan.
Govind Dodrajka delivered welcome address enthusiastically. “Saryu Roy is the state’s most intellectual legislator,” he stated. Moreover, Bal Mela became the city’s identity.
