Tata Cummins Union Seeks 20% Bonus Amid Negotiations

Employees’ representatives submit formal demands as bonus talks begin

Jamshedpur’s industrial sector anticipates annual bonus announcements as Tata Cummins Union initiates discussions.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Tata Cummins Employees Union has formally submitted a letter to Plant Head Ramphal Nehra, requesting a 20% bonus for employees.

The union’s demands include access to the company’s balance sheet and prompt initiation of bonus negotiations.

Tata Cummins exceeded its production target for the 2023-24 financial year, manufacturing 168,006 engines across its units.

The Jamshedpur unit produced 105,677 engines, while Pune-based TCPL-2 and TCPL-3 contributed 48,132 and 14,197 engines respectively.

Union leaders, including President Diptendu Chakraborty and General Secretary Sumit, presented the memorandum to management.

"We’re optimistic about securing a fair bonus given the company’s strong performance," stated a union representative.

The current bonus formula, valid until 2026, considers production (9 points), profit (8 points), and BIS (3 points), with a fixed 1.5% component.

Tata Cummins had set a profit target of 596 crores for the 2023-24 financial year across its three units.

The union’s joint committee is currently focusing on the BIS aspect of the bonus calculation.

Employees across Jamshedpur’s industrial sector are eagerly awaiting news of their annual bonuses.

The successful production figures have raised hopes for a favorable bonus outcome among Tata Cummins employees.

Plant Head Ramphal Nehra and HR representative Bhikam Singh were present during the submission of the bonus request.
