Jharkhand Introduces Scholarship Ministers in School Bal Sansads

Initiative Aims to Boost Student Awareness and Access to Financial Aid

Jharkhand’s new Scholarship Minister role in school Bal Sansads seeks to improve financial aid awareness and access for students, with camps planned for document processing.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand government has introduced the position of Scholarship Minister in Bal Sansad programs across state-run schools, an initiative spearheaded by Deepak Birua, Minister of Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, and Backward Class Welfare Department.

Janaki Kumari, a student at a government school in East Singhbhum, is among the first appointees to this new role.

She has already begun informing her peers about available scholarships and assisting with application processes.

"Our goal is to ensure every eligible student has access to the financial aid they deserve," Birua told reporters at a press conference announcing the program.

The Scholarship Ministers are tasked with providing up-to-date information on scholarship eligibility criteria, application deadlines, and required documents.

They will also help complete and submit applications, follow up on rejections, and work with teachers to identify eligible students.

Additional Measures

Birua has directed district Deputy Commissioners to organize school-level camps. These camps will focus on issuing Aadhaar cards to students, linking them to bank accounts, completing KYC processes, and issuing caste and income certificates online.

"This comprehensive approach will streamline the scholarship application process," explained a senior official from the education department, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Expert Opinions

Education experts have welcomed the move, with some suggesting it could serve as a model for other states looking to improve scholarship distribution.

"This initiative has the potential to significantly increase the number of students benefiting from scholarships," said Dr. Anita Sharma, an education policy analyst. "It addresses multiple barriers that often prevent eligible students from accessing financial aid."

As the program unfolds, its impact on student enrollment and retention rates will be closely monitored by both state officials and education advocates.
