JAMSHEDPUR – The two-day Inter Centre Boxing Championship 2025, organised by Tata Steel, concluded successfully at Sitaramdera Community Centre on November 7.
The event brought together all Tata Steel-run boxing centres from East Singhbhum. Boys and girls competed across sub-junior, junior, and youth categories, with around 125 participants from nine centres showcasing their skills.
Among the highlights was eight-year-old Deepika Soy, a class three student of Rajendra Vidyalaya, Ghutia, who secured the gold medal in the 25 kg category. Her father, Badal Soy, expressed hope that she would one day become a government officer and bring pride to the nation through sports.
Deepika trains at Dimna Boxing Club under coach Vijay Soy. According to her coach, she has already won medals twice in state-level Wushu championships, earning recognition for both Jamshedpur and East Singhbhum. “She is very dedicated and trains tirelessly. Her discipline and passion show promise for a bright future,” said the coach.
The competition demonstrated Tata Steel’s ongoing commitment to youth sports development and nurturing local talent. The company continues to encourage sports participation through community-level events across Jamshedpur and its neighbouring regions.
