Five Arrested for Gang Brutality Against 12-Year-Old Girl

Police Nab Suspects Within 12 Hours of Crime in West Singhbhum

CHAIBASA – Five men were arrested and jailed for allegedly gang-assaulting a 12-year-old girl in West Singhbhum district after she returned from a local fair.

The incident occurred early Friday morning around 2:30-3:00 AM. The victim was returning home from a Jhumar fair. She was accompanied by her brother from Mundui village.

However, the accused intercepted them on the way. They threatened the brother with a knife. The assailants then forced him to flee.

The five men caught the minor girl. They dragged her to Mundui football ground. All accused then took turns committing the crime.

Jagannathpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rafael Murmu led the investigation. He confirmed the swift action by authorities. The team was formed under Chaibasa SP’s directive.

Moreover, all five suspects were nabbed within 12 hours. They were hiding in Jagannathpur area. Some had fled to Odisha border regions.

The arrested accused include Manoj Sardar alias Bidio, 32. Ravi Sardar, 33, was also caught. Naina Sardar alias Capsule, 30, was apprehended.

In addition, Deshraj Sardar, 28, was arrested. Chocho alias Parmeshwar Sardar, 29, was also nabbed. Four are married men between 28-30 years.

Station House Officer Avinash Hebram provided case details. The victim’s father filed the complaint. A special team conducted multiple raids.

The girl was initially taken to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital. She underwent preliminary medical examination there. However, her condition warranted advanced care.

Subsequently, she was referred to MGM Hospital Jamshedpur. DALSA PLV Nagendra Kumar facilitated her admission. She is receiving treatment under medical supervision.

All accused underwent medical examination at Jagannathpur station. They were sent to Chaibasa jail on Sunday. The case was registered under relevant sections.

The accused hail from Mundui and Kondarkoda villages. All belong to Jagannathpur police station area. They are residents of West Singhbhum district.
