JAMSHEDPUR – A heartbreaking tragedy occurred in Aastha City Town under Birsanagar police station area on Saturday when a five-year-old boy died after falling into an open septic tank.
The deceased, Adarsh Kumar, was the son of Tapan Kumbhakar, a resident of Kumrum Basti in Mango. His father had brought him along while working at the township site. After lunch, Adarsh was playing outside the house when he accidentally fell into an uncovered septic tank nearby.
When the boy was missing for long, his family began searching and found his slipper near the tank. On checking, they found him unconscious inside. He was rushed to Mercy Hospital and later referred to MGM Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The child’s death left the family devastated. Meanwhile, the Birsanagar police arrived at the spot to begin investigation. Residents have accused the township management of gross negligence for leaving the tank uncovered.
“Such carelessness is unacceptable and must be punished,” said a local resident, demanding strict action against those responsible and preventive measures for the future.
