Women and young girls are crowding shops for clothes, jewelry, cosmetics and puja items. Traders said footfall is much higher than last year. Fashionable dresses, sarees and modern jewelry are especially in demand.
Meanwhile, GST rate cuts have lowered the prices of garments and decorations. Shopkeepers expect a major rise in sales this season.
On the other hand, continuous rainfall has raised concerns among residents. Many worry that pandal visits and outdoor plans could be disrupted if showers continue during the festival.
