Festive Spirit Grips Jamshedpur as Women Celebrate Teej

Markets, Temples, and Homes Filled With Joy and Traditional Preparations

JAMSHEDPUR – The city witnessed vibrant celebrations as women prepared for the Teej festival with enthusiasm and devotion.

From Sunday onwards, markets and temples became lively with crowds. Mehndi stalls and beauty parlors were packed with women eager to adorn themselves for the occasion.

On Teej, married women performed sixteen traditional adornments and prayed to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. They wore green sarees, decorated their hands with henna designs, and adorned themselves with bangles and jewelry.

Meanwhile, preparations for traditional dishes such as ghevar, kheer, and puri-sabzi filled households across the city. Women could be seen exchanging greetings and extending wishes for prosperity.

In Sakchi, Bistupur, Kadma, Sonari, and Mango, markets were crowded with women and girls shopping for festive needs. Temples across Jamshedpur completed arrangements for special Teej prayers, attracting large groups of devotees.

In addition, cultural programs and devotional songs were organized at several locations. The entire city was immersed in greenery, festivity, and devotion as women prayed for their husbands’ long life and marital happiness.
