JAMSHEDPUR – The 79th Independence Day was marked with a grand celebration at Gopal Maidan in Jamshedpur, where Deputy Commissioner Karan Satyarthi unfurled the tricolour and saluted the national flag.
Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey, along with senior police and administrative officials, Jharkhand movement activists, prominent citizens, and schoolchildren, attended the event. The DC and SSP inspected the parade before the formal address.
In his speech, DC Satyarthi extended greetings to the district residents, noting India’s remarkable progress in the 78 years since independence. He stated that Jharkhand had also witnessed significant growth.
Paying homage to freedom fighters, the DC offered heartfelt tribute to Jharkhand’s founder and former Chief Minister, Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, acknowledging his crucial role in the state’s formation. He pledged to realise Soren’s vision for Jharkhand.
The DC also shared details of ongoing development projects and district achievements, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to delivering central and state welfare schemes to the most marginalised sections of society.
