Patient carried on cot through mud as village lacks motorable access

Key Points:

  • Tilai Ghutu village in Potka block has no road even after 24 years
  • Patient carried on cot through mud to reach health centre in Potka
  • Locals blame MLA Sanjiv Sardar for ignoring repeated complaints

JAMSHEDPUR – A patient had to be carried on a cot through slush as Tilai Ghutu remains roadless.

In Tilai Ghutu, a hamlet in Khursi village under Potka block of East Singhbhum, the struggle for a road continues even 24 years after Jharkhand was formed.

During monsoon, the condition worsens to the point where villagers cannot even walk. When someone falls sick, they must be physically carried to the main road on a cot.

Today, villagers of Tilai Ghutu in Domjudi Panchayat faced exactly this situation. A patient needed urgent care but could not be transported on any vehicle.

Hence, locals used a cot to carry the patient through thick mud and slippery terrain. After a long struggle, they reached the main road and took the patient to Potka Community Health Centre.

According to residents, walking on the muddy road is impossible during rain. Even stepping out of their homes has become a daily challenge.

Locals allege that they have complained multiple times to their area MLA, Sanjiv Sardar. However, no solution has emerged despite assurances.

“The MLA visits only during election time,” said one villager. “Once he wins, he disappears. We are left to suffer.”

The village lacks basic connectivity, and public services are hard to access. Students, pregnant women, elderly citizens—all face extreme hardship.

Monsoon turns the only path into a swamp. Ambulances, two-wheelers, and even bicycles cannot reach the hamlet.

The villagers demand that the administration take immediate action. “All we ask is a proper road,” said a resident. “We don’t want promises—we want results.”

As the situation remains dire, locals are appealing for intervention before lives are lost due to inaccessibility.
