SERAIKELA – Jharkhand Loktantrik Kalyanakari Morcha workers staged a major protest at Metafab Industries Private Limited gate in Adityapur Industrial Area Phase-1 on Wednesday morning.
JLKM Central Vice President Prem Mardi led the demonstration. Workers blocked the company gate demanding justice for injured employees. Moreover, they sought permanent employment and reinstatement of terminated workers.
Several workers suffered serious injuries during work operations. However, the company denied them compensation and permanent jobs. Furthermore, management showed negligence toward worker safety measures.
Lota Murmu and Basu Sardar lost their fingers in accidents. The company provided no adequate relief to these workers. Meanwhile, Pancham Mudi was dismissed after finger injury.
Sonu Lohar worked for the company for twelve years. Management terminated him without prior notice or explanation. In addition, he received no severance benefits despite long service.
Contract workers lack basic facilities like PF and ESI. The company denies these fundamental social security benefits. On the other hand, workers face exploitation without legal protection.
Prem Mardi submitted written demands to company management. The memorandum included compensation for injured workers specifically. Furthermore, it demanded reinstatement of terminated employees immediately.
Workers raised issues repeatedly before labor superintendent. However, no concrete action was taken by authorities. Moreover, continued negligence forced workers to street protests.
JLKM has emerged as major force in industrial areas. The organization consistently raises worker issues in Adityapur region. Meanwhile, entrepreneurs face new challenges from organized labor movements.
