Jamshedpur Scholar Amit Mishra Earns 100% LSE Scholarship

Steel City Native Secures Full Funding for MSc at London School of Economics

Key Points:

  • Amit Mishra receives complete scholarship for MSc at LSE
  • TISS and IMT graduate worked with Tata Industries Limited
  • Won Dr. Ram Tarneja Award presented by Education Minister

JAMSHEDPUR – In a city defined by steel and sweat, it is rare for a story of quiet academic brilliance to make the front page. But Amit Mishra, a soft-spoken scholar from Jamshedpur, has done just that by earning a place at the globally renowned London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) for their MSc program in Organisational and Social Psychology, with a 100 percent scholarship that will fully fund his studies.
For a town better known for its industrial legacy, Amit’s journey adds a new kind of pride, one rooted in books, ideas, and the promise of global leadership.
Growing up in Jamshedpur, Amit was always surrounded by a culture of grit. “Discipline, hard work, and community values. That is what the Steel City gave me,” he reflects. “It made me believe in perseverance. That no matter how small your beginnings, your dreams can be global.”
After completing his early education in the city, Amit went on to pursue a Master’s degree from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hyderabad, followed by a PGDM from IMT Ghaziabad. Over the years, he also gained rich professional exposure, having worked with Tata Industries Limited and as a research professional at the Indian School of Business (ISB), where he deepened his understanding of strategy and organizational behavior.
Today, he works as a researcher at IMT Hyderabad, where his work focuses on making workplaces more human, more emotionally intelligent, more innovative, more resilient.
His research speaks to the future of work, exploring how leadership, emotional well-being, and workplace design can help people thrive. It is no surprise then that his ideas have already been recognized on national and international stages.
In February 2024, Amit was awarded the Dr. Ram Tarneja Award for Best Article in Management, a recognition presented by Education Minister Dr. Dharmendra Pradhan and NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant. Shortly after, he was also inducted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), London for his contributions to leadership and workplace well-being.
For Amit, though, success is never just about accolades.
“It has always been about making my city and my country proud,” he says, “by the strength of my ideas and the honesty of my work.”
There is a quiet conviction in the way he speaks, no grandstanding, just a deep sense of responsibility.
As he gets ready to begin his journey to London, Amit is not just packing credentials and hopes. He is carrying the spirit of Jamshedpur, the values, memories, and resilience that shaped him. Those who know him well say he walks forward with confidence, but always looks back with gratitude. “He may be going global,” one friend said, “but his heart has never left home.”
And maybe that is what makes his story so special. In a world chasing speed and spotlight, Amit Mishra reminds us that depth matters. That great cities are not just built from steel, they are shaped by the minds they nurture.
His story will undoubtedly inspire a generation of Jamshedpur’s youth to believe that excellence is not always loud. Sometimes, it is thoughtful, grounded, and quietly unstoppable.
