CHAKRADHARPUR – A major railway accident was averted when the Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express was stopped after a tractor got stuck at Kansbahal railway crossing under Chakradharpur Rail Division.
According to railway sources from CKP, the incident occurred around 1:40 PM on Saturday afternoon. A tractor was crossing the railway gate between Rourkela and Rajgangpur stations. However, its rear wheel got trapped in a pothole.
The tractor driver attempted to free the vehicle unsuccessfully. Meanwhile, the stuck tractor prevented the railway crossing gate from closing. This created a dangerous situation for approaching trains.
The Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express (20836) was approaching the same track. Railway crossing staff immediately assessed the critical situation. Moreover, they quickly alerted the nearest station about the obstruction.
