JAMSHEDPUR – A comprehensive review meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) was convened under the chairmanship of Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato. Key discussions included water supply, electricity, teacher postings, private school admissions, and infrastructure projects like roads and drains.
The meeting saw the participation of prominent leaders, including MLAs Saryu Roy, Sameer Mohanty, and Sanjeev Sardar, alongside Zila Parishad representatives. Administrative officials such as PD ITDA Dipankar Chowdhury and ADM Law and Order Aniket Sachan were also present. The review focused on progress and compliance with directives from the previous Disha meeting.
Review of Water and Electricity Issues
The MP emphasized timely execution of plans and ensuring accountability for quality work. For water supply, departments were directed to survey and ensure uninterrupted services via pipelines, solar water towers, and hand pumps. Technical issues causing service disruptions were to be addressed immediately, with regular review of grievance registers by executives.
Electricity-related grievances, such as irregular meter readings and damaged poles, were raised. The authorities reported completion of surveys and progress in replacing 50% of the poles. Efforts are ongoing to address pending areas swiftly.
Education and Health Sector Improvements
Concerns about teacher shortages in rural schools led to directives for completing rationalization processes promptly. Plans for constructing boundary walls for schools near highways were prioritized for student safety. The administration also discussed enrolling 25% of BPL children in private schools under the Right to Education Act, ensuring compliance in rural areas.
The Ayushman Bharat health scheme also came under review. Delayed hospital payments and doctor shortages were addressed with temporary hiring measures. On-call specialists will be employed using accrued funds.
Focus on Local Infrastructure and Welfare
Other significant topics included strengthening Anganwadi services, improving public welfare schemes like MGNREGA, and addressing livestock insurance issues under the Mukhyamantri Pashudhan Yojana. Measures to ensure timely completion of pending projects related to roads and drains were stressed.
