In a blow to illegal sand trade, the Dhalbhumgarh district administration seized about 38,000 CFT sand in a late-night raid. Two have been charged in this major action.
JAMSHEDPUR – In an unexpected turn of events late on Monday, the district administration of Dhalbhumgarh launched a series of raids under the leadership of Ghatshila’s Sub-Divisional Officer, Satyaveer Rajak, leading to the seizure of approximately 38,000 CFT of illegally stored sand.
The operation lasted about four hours, sending ripples of panic among illegal sand traders in the district.
These raids were conducted at seven locations, including six in Dhalbhumgarh block and one in Gudbanda, resulting in the discovery of 34,000 CFT sand in Dhalbhumgarh and 4,000 CFT in Gudbanda.
The team involved in this operation included CO Sadanand Mahato of Dhalbhumgarh, CO cum BDO of Gudbanda Smita Nagesia, Executive Magistrate Keshav Bharti, and Sub-Inspector Abhinay Kumar.
As a consequence of these findings, an FIR has been filed at Dhalbhumgarh police station against two individuals, Bablu Sao and Tuntun Pandit, both implicated in the illegal mining and storage of sand.
Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav commended the team on its decisive action against the sand mafia. Jadhav issued a stern warning to those involved in the illegal sand trade, assuring continued vigilance and stringent measures to curb these illicit activities in the district.
