Key Points:
- Students made to remove shirts for Pen Day activities.
- Parents demand action; MLA joins the protest.
- DC assures strict measures after discussions.
DHANBAD – In a shocking incident at a reputed private school in Dhanbad, the principal allegedly forced tenth-grade girls to remove their shirts during a Pen Day celebration. The day, which marks the conclusion of exams, is traditionally celebrated by students writing good wishes on each other’s shirts. However, this practice did not sit well with the principal, leading to an unprecedented punitive action.
Students Narrate Harrowing Experience
Around 100 students participated in the Pen Day activities, exchanging goodwill messages on their shirts. Following this, the principal reportedly admonished them, ordered them to remove their shirts, and allowed them to wear only their blazers before leaving the school premises. Several students, distressed by the ordeal, informed their parents and were seen crying over the incident.
Parents and Authorities React
Parents expressed their anger and described the action as “Talibani.” On Friday, they approached the District Commissioner (DC), Madhavi Mishra, to demand strict measures against the principal. Accompanying them was local MLA Ragini Singh, who condemned the incident as “shameful and unfortunate.”
“The principal’s actions are deeply concerning, and immediate steps must be taken to ensure student safety and dignity,” said Singh.
DC Promises Action
After discussions with parents and the MLA, DC Mishra assured them of appropriate action against those responsible. Parents, however, remain skeptical and demand visible accountability to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Growing Public Outrage
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many questioning the school’s administrative policies. A video capturing the students’ plight is circulating on social media, drawing further criticism.
Call for Reforms
Educationists and child rights activists have highlighted the need for awareness among school authorities to handle such situations sensitively. The incident has reignited discussions about maintaining a balanced disciplinary approach in schools.
