  • Appeals for action to protect local employment and economic stability.

JAMSHEDPUR – Kadma Workers’ Cooperative Society Limited has lodged a formal complaint with the Deputy Commissioner, accusing Jamshedpur Akshes of discriminatory practices in tender allocation. The cooperative alleges that tenders are consistently awarded to private contractors, sidelining local contractors who contribute to regional development and employment.

Concerns Over Employment and Economic Impact

Representatives from the cooperative highlighted that private contractor favoritism undermines local labor opportunities, exacerbating migration issues among workers. They argued that their contractors play a critical role in providing employment to residents, which prevents workforce displacement and supports the local economy.

A member of the cooperative remarked, “Our aim is to ensure jobs for local workers to improve their standard of living and curb migration. However, this bias towards private contractors threatens our activities and reduces employment opportunities.”

Economic and Social Implications

The cooperative pointed out that prioritizing private contractors not only disrupts their operations but poses risks to regional economic growth. They emphasized that utilizing local contractors strengthens the local economy and ensures stable livelihoods for workers.

Call for Immediate Action

In their memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, the cooperative urged prompt intervention to address the issue. They demanded equal opportunities for local contractors, stating that such measures are essential for sustaining regional development and preventing economic disparities.

The cooperative reiterated its commitment to labor welfare, stating, “We appeal to the administration to rectify this biased behavior and provide a level playing field for local contractors.”
