MEDININAGAR – The Jharkhand State Food Commission member and acting chairperson, Shabnam Parveen, held a review meeting on Wednesday to assess the operations of the supply department in Palamu. The discussions focused on enhancing transparency and efficiency in food distribution under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

Comprehensive Review of Supply Department

During the meeting at the local circuit house, complaints received by the commission’s office were discussed in detail with block supply officers. Parveen reviewed the January 2025 food allocation and distribution under NFSA, as well as the March 2024 food distribution for green ration cardholders.

Officials were instructed to ensure timely procurement and distribution from warehouses. Additionally, block supply officers were directed to conduct regular inspections of public distribution system (PDS) shops and ensure thorough checks on food distribution practices.

E-KYC and Monitoring Guidelines

The commission emphasized completing E-KYC for all ration cardholders, with only 48% of beneficiaries having completed the process so far. The February 28 deadline was reiterated, and it was clarified that dealers must allocate time specifically for E-KYC tasks after distribution hours.

Furthermore, vigilance and monitoring committees were urged to maintain their presence during food distribution activities to ensure accountability.

Paddy Procurement Oversight

Nodal officers were instructed to regularly inspect paddy procurement centers in the district. Key areas of focus included paddy purchase, storage, and subsequent lifting by rice mills. This process is vital for maintaining supply chain efficiency.

The meeting was attended by several district officials, including Additional Collector Kundan Kumar, District Supply Officer Preeti Kisku, and District Social Welfare Officer Neeta Chauhan. All block development officers and block supply officers were also present.
