RAMGARH – In a tragic accident on Wednesday morning, a speeding truck loaded with potatoes rammed into an auto-rickshaw carrying school children on the Ramgarh-Bokaro road. Four people, including three young students and the auto driver, were killed on the spot, while several others sustained injuries.
The collision occurred near Gola Tirla Turn, a notorious accident-prone area. Local residents expressed outrage, stating that repeated pleas for road safety measures in the region have gone unheard.
Violation of School Closure Order
The accident sparked a debate over the negligence of local schools that operated despite a state government directive. To counter the harsh cold wave, the Jharkhand School Education Department had ordered the closure of all schools, from kindergarten to grade 8, until January 13, 2025. However, some institutions in Ramgarh ignored this directive, leading to the tragic incident.
Safety and Accountability
Eyewitnesses described the horrifying scene, highlighting the recklessness of the truck driver. “The truck was speeding and hit the auto without any attempt to stop,” said a local. The lack of adherence to safety norms by both schools and drivers has raised serious concerns about accountability.
District authorities have promised strict action against those responsible. “We will ensure justice for the victims and take measures to prevent such incidents,” stated an official.
