POTKA – A meeting chaired by CPI Potka Secretary Swalal Mahakud was held in Ranga Matiya village to address pressing local concerns. Villagers shared issues such as stalled widow and old-age pensions for four months, severe water scarcity, and the absence of medical facilities.

Borewell Crisis Due to Industry

Villagers highlighted the impact of Shah Sponge Iron and Power’s operations, which reportedly caused borewells in their village and neighboring areas to dry up. The deep borewells operated by the company were cited as the primary reason for the depleting groundwater levels.

Tribute to Late CPI Leader

At the start of the meeting, participants observed a two-minute silence to honor the late CPI leader Ramesh Patro. The solemn tribute reflected the party’s respect for its long-standing members.

CPI’s Commitment to Relief

CPI district secretary Ambuj Kumar Thakur and other leaders, including Dhananjay Shukla and Hira Arkaine, assured attendees that the grievances would be brought to the government’s notice. “We are committed to ensuring relief for the common people,” stated Thakur during his address.

Membership Renewal Drive

The meeting also marked the beginning of a membership renewal campaign for CPI in the region. The event was attended by several key figures, including Prashanjit Bose, Ravindra Das, and local village heads like Jaydev Mandal.
