Key Points:

  • 27-year-old Chitranjan Kumar found hanging on his rooftop in Kanchanpur.
  • Father alleges murder and files FIR against four individuals.
  • Love affair and inter-caste tensions emerge as possible motives.

MEDININAGAR – In a shocking incident in Kanchanpur village near Ranka, Garhwa, Chitranjan Kumar, 27, was found hanging from a noose on the rooftop of his house. While the death initially appeared to be a suicide, the victim’s father has alleged foul play, claiming his son was murdered and the scene staged.

Details of the Incident

According to sources, Chitranjan, also known as Shishir Kumar, was involved in a six-month-long inter-caste relationship with a local woman from Ranka town. The relationship faced opposition from the woman’s family, who were upset over their differing castes. Recently, her family arranged her marriage to someone else, which had reportedly distressed Chitranjan.

On Tuesday night, Chitranjan allegedly had invited the woman to meet him, but she allegedly declined due to family restrictions. Upset by her refusal, Chitranjan allegedly threatened to take his own life. Despite her attempts to dissuade him, his body was discovered hanging early Wednesday morning.

Allegations of Murder

In his FIR, Chitranjan’s father accused the woman’s father, along with three others, of conspiring to kill his son and make it appear as a suicide. The family believes the murder was motivated by the love affair and inter-caste tensions.

Police Investigation Underway

Ranka Police Station in-charge, Animesh Shantikary, confirmed the registration of an FIR based on the father’s complaint. “We are investigating the allegations and will take further action based on the findings,” he stated.

The body has been sent to Garhwa Sadar Hospital for post-mortem, and the case continues to unfold as police gather more evidence.
