Safety Concerns Rise as Bypass Near Educational Institutions Turns Hazardous

Key Points:

  • MLA Samir Mohanty leads protest against poor road maintenance at highway junction
  • Eight-month-long dust problem persists despite toll collection
  • Bypass near schools becomes dangerous thoroughfare, sparking safety concerns

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has initiated a protest against the declining state of a crucial bypass road in Baharagora.

The demonstration took place at Flower Chowk near the intersection of National Highways 18 and 49. MLA Samir Kumar Mohanty voiced strong concerns about public safety.

“The situation has become unbearable for local residents and students,” remarked a concerned parent at the protest site.

Impact on Education

The bypass road’s proximity to educational institutions has raised significant worries. Plus Two High School and Baharagora College face daily challenges.

Moreover, the Inter-State Bus Stand’s location compounds the traffic problems. Students navigate through dangerous conditions each day.

Historical Context

The bypass was originally designed to divert heavy traffic from residential areas. However, it has transformed into a main thoroughfare.

In addition, similar protests occurred in the region last year regarding road safety. The NHAI has faced multiple complaints about infrastructure maintenance.

Community Response

JMM Block President Asit Mishra led the memorandum submission to NHAI officials. Local leaders have joined forces to address this issue.

Meanwhile, the toll collection continues without visible improvements. The community demands immediate action for road repair.
