RANCHI – A heated exchange erupted between Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and BJP state president Babulal Marandi over coal royalty dues from the Centre.

The state government has authorized legal proceedings. Meanwhile, a special secretary will lead the recovery efforts.

Marandi challenged JMM’s claims on platform X. Moreover, he demanded documentary evidence for the stated amount.

“This is rightful money of Jharkhandis,” CM Soren responded. Furthermore, he expressed disappointment over BJP’s opposition stance.

Legal Initiative Begins

The cabinet approved legal action last month. Additionally, the government issued a formal notification for proceedings.

The special secretary will coordinate with Coal India subsidiaries. Besides, the Advocate General will assist in resolving obstacles.

Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary denied fund discrimination. However, the state government remains firm on its claim.

Previous attempts to resolve the issue have failed. On the other hand, recent developments indicate escalating tensions.
