MEDININAGAR – The six-day indefinite strike by auto-rickshaw drivers ended on Tuesday following successful negotiations with Municipal Commissioner Mohammed Javed Hussain.
The breakthrough came after state Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore’s intervention. “Regular transport services will resume from Wednesday,” a union representative confirmed.
Strike Background
The protest began on December 12 following new traffic regulations. Moreover, the Jharkhand Auto Drivers Federation had submitted a five-point demand letter to the Deputy Commissioner.
The federation, under Rakesh Singh and district president Ramakanth Dubey, had organized a torch rally on December 11. Furthermore, they staged demonstrations at the court premises.
Resolution Process
The Finance Minister held crucial meetings with municipal officials. Additionally, Municipal Commissioner Hussain personally visited the protest site for negotiations.
Traffic Officer Samal Ahmad had strictly implemented the new rules. However, the administration has now modified some regulations to address drivers’ concerns.
New Arrangements
Rural auto-rickshaws can now enter the city with designated stands. Meanwhile, restrictions remain at Court Chowk and Chah Muhan areas.
The Commissioner emphasized the need for cooperation. “We must work together to prevent traffic congestion,” an official source stated.
