NIT Jamshedpur Hosts Workshop on Advancements in Turbulence Control

Engineering Students Gain Insights into Flow and Acoustic Innovations

JAMSHEDPUR – The Mechanical Engineering Department at NIT Jamshedpur successfully conducted a five-day workshop titled “Taming Turbulence: Advancements in Flow and Acoustic Control.” Sponsored by the Jharkhand Council on Science, Technology, and Innovation, the event provided engineering students with in-depth knowledge of modern techniques in fluid dynamics and acoustic behavior management.

The workshop featured expert lectures from faculty of IITs and NITs and hands-on demonstrations that focused on turbulence control, flow optimization, and acoustic noise reduction. Topics included computational fluid dynamics (CFD), active and passive flow control, and novel materials for noise and vibration mitigation.

Insights into Industry Applications

Participants gained insights into the latest research and applications in fluid dynamics and acoustics, which are transforming industries like aerospace, automotive, and energy production. Emphasis was placed on improving performance, efficiency, and sustainability while reducing environmental impacts.

Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, highlighted the importance of applying this knowledge to real-world challenges. Prof. Sanjay, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, applauded the efforts of organizing faculty—Dr. Shailesh Jha, Dr. Rinku Gouda, Dr. A.K. Patel, and Dr. K.S.K. Sudhamshu. Dean of Research Prof. M.K. Sinha and Deputy Director Prof. R.V. Sharma also praised the participants and emphasized the importance of hosting such workshops regularly.
