Minister Highlights Role of Youth in Social Welfare at Christmas Gathering

MEDININAGAR – A Christmas gathering was held on Sunday at the Roman Catholic Church Parish Hall, Station Road, Palamu. Jharkhand’s Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperation Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey attended as the chief guest, accompanied by Manika MLA Ramchandra Singh as the special guest.

Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas led the holy Mass during the ceremony. Minister Tirkey emphasized that Christmas conveys the message of love and brotherhood. She highlighted the importance of living a spiritually fulfilled life and actively participating in service, welfare, and peace. “Life becomes meaningful when one serves and supports others,” she stated.

Meanwhile, MLA Ramchandra Singh praised the Christian community for their selfless service. He acknowledged their commitment to helping the poor and marginalized, often traveling to remote areas to extend assistance. Singh encouraged everyone to embrace the message of Christmas by fostering peace and unity.

Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas blessed the youth, reminding them of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for humanity’s welfare. He said, “Jesus left heaven and came to Earth for human salvation and endured immense suffering for our well-being.”

More than 600 youth from 23 parishes under the Daltonganj Diocese showcased vibrant cultural programs, energizing the attendees. The event also witnessed participation from 15 sisters of various religious communities, priests, and other dignitaries, including Father Suman Minz, Father Yashvir Minz CMF, and VG Father Sanjay Giddh.

The gathering highlighted the importance of youth involvement in uplifting society’s underprivileged and spreading love, peace, and harmony.
