SERAIKELA – In a shocking incident, Sonu Sardar, husband of Yashpur Panchayat Mukhiya Parvati Sardar and District Para-Teacher Union President, was shot dead near Bardih village in Gamharia late Friday night.
According to reports, Sonu Sardar was returning home from a wedding party in Ganjia when the attack occurred around 11:30 PM. Criminals lying in wait near Bardih village school ambushed him and fired seven bullets.
Following the incident, the attackers fled the spot. On receiving the information, Gamharia police arrived at the scene, seized the body, and sent it for postmortem to Sadar Hospital in Seraikela.
Sonu Sardar, aged 40, was a prominent leader among para-teachers in the district and actively associated with community initiatives. His sudden death has triggered shock and anger among locals.
The police have started their investigation into the murder, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits. Local residents have demanded swift justice, emphasizing the need for increased security measures in the area.
This incident highlights rising crime concerns in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district, as similar attacks have been reported in recent months. Authorities are under pressure to curb escalating violence and ensure public safety.
