MEDININAGAR – A collision on NH-98 near Chhatarpur’s Udaygarh Turn left three wedding attendees critically injured after a Hyva truck hit their Scorpio.
The accident occurred on the four-lane road when the Scorpio (registration JH 03-BH 3972) was en route to Bihar’s Dev from Rajha village in Palamu’s Chhatarpur block. As the vehicle ascended the Udaygarh turn, a speeding Hyva truck from Medininagar struck the Scorpio’s left side and moved ahead.
The collision injured three individuals sitting inside the Scorpio. Vivek Kumar (12), son of Jitendra Saw, Surendra Saw (40), son of Rampyare Saw, and Kamlesh Saw (52), resident of Sarshot, sustained severe injuries. Local residents immediately transported the injured to the Chhatarpur Sub-Divisional Hospital.
After initial treatment, doctors referred all three victims to Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) in Medininagar for advanced care.
Chhatarpur Circle Officer Upendra Kumar rushed to the hospital upon receiving the news. He ensured proper medical arrangements and coordinated the transfer of the injured to MMCH. “All necessary steps are being taken to ensure their speedy recovery,” said a hospital source.
Meanwhile, the police have seized both vehicles involved in the accident. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Local sources reported that over-speeding on NH-98 has been a recurring concern.
Road safety experts highlight the need for better enforcement of traffic laws on the four-lane highways, particularly in accident-prone zones like Udaygarh Turn.
