In-Service Teachers’ Workshop Enhances Science Teaching Skills

Capacity Building Programme at DAV Public School Bistupur Focuses on Modern Pedagogy

JAMSHEDPUR – A three-day workshop aimed at enhancing the teaching capabilities of science educators concluded successfully at DAV Public School, Bistupur, from December 5th to 7th, 2024.

The workshop, organized under the aegis of DAV Centre for Academic Excellence, focused on Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The event provided a platform for over 42 teachers from DAV Public Schools under Jharkhand Zone E to exchange ideas and adopt innovative teaching methods.

Mrs. Pragya Singh, ARO of DAV Public Schools Jharkhand Zone E and Principal of DAV Public School, Bistupur, inaugurated the event. Her address emphasized the importance of continuous professional development in ensuring students’ academic and holistic growth. She encouraged educators to engage with students regularly, promoting better understanding and practical application of scientific concepts.

Interactive and Practical Learning Modules

Subject experts delivered focused sessions on enhancing conceptual clarity and integrating modern teaching techniques. Experts such as Ms. Mousumi Bhattacharjee, Mr. S.K. Samanta, and Mr. Gautam Upadhyay led Physics sessions. Chemistry discussions were conducted by Mr. Arabinda Pathak, Mr. Lakhbir Singh, and others. Meanwhile, Biology sessions featured insights from Mrs. Shashi Kala, Mrs. Bharti Mishra, and other specialists.

Hands-on experiments, multimedia demonstrations, and group activities allowed teachers to explore practical applications of science concepts. The inclusion of real-life examples in Physics, advanced lab techniques in Chemistry, and visual aids for complex biological systems were key highlights.

Promoting Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving

The workshop emphasized developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students. Educators learned to simplify abstract concepts and make science lessons more engaging through interactive methods. Experts also underscored the importance of adopting technology to inspire students and foster a deeper interest in scientific exploration.

A participant reflected, “The workshop provided valuable strategies and modern approaches that will make science education more dynamic and impactful in classrooms.”

The programme concluded with a feedback session, where participants reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the new methodologies. Organizers emphasized the importance of empowering educators to nurture the next generation of scientists and innovators.
