SER Zone Invests Rs 11.5 Crore in Modern Automatic Signaling System
Key Points:
- Automatic signal system to cover 134 km stretch between stations
- Project aims to improve train punctuality and operational efficiency
- Multiple trains can now run with just 500-800 meters gap
JAMSHEDPUR – South Eastern Railway is modernizing the Tatanagar-Kharagpur route with an advanced automatic signaling system to enhance train operations and safety.
The current absolute signal system requires manual clearance. However, the new system will work automatically.
Moreover, the automatic signals will change colors based on train positions.
“This upgrade will significantly improve our operational efficiency,” states a railway official.
Furthermore, the system includes safety equipment in specialized huts between blocks.
Meanwhile, similar systems are already working well on the Tata-Rajkharsawan route.
The project has received full funding approval of Rs 11.5 crore.
In addition, the implementation includes laying new cables along the route.
The automatic system allows trains to maintain higher speeds consistently.
On the other hand, the current system causes unnecessary delays between trains.
Moreover, the new setup will enable multiple trains on the same track.
A knowledgeable source adds, “The system’s alert mechanism ensures maximum safety standards.”
The project aligns with Indian Railways’ nationwide modernization efforts.
Furthermore, successful implementations exist in Jhansi and Bina sectors.
Besides, the upgrade will facilitate better train frequency management.
