24-Hour Ultimatum Sparks Panic Among Encroachers in Seraikela

Key Points:

  • Encroachers given 24 hours to clear illegal setups in Adityapur.

  • Authorities warn bulldozers will remove encroachments forcibly from Wednesday.

  • Traffic issues and public safety cited as reasons for the crackdown.

JAMSHEDPUR – Adityapur Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with traffic police, has launched a rigorous anti-encroachment campaign in Seraikela district. Encroachers have been given a 24-hour ultimatum to vacate illegal structures, failing which bulldozers will be deployed for forcible removal.

Immediate Steps to Address Encroachments

On Monday, municipal officials conducted loudspeaker announcements, urging encroachers to remove their structures. Traffic Officer Rajesh Kumar Singh emphasized that persistent encroachments have worsened road congestion and heightened accident risks. He noted, "Despite multiple warnings, encroachments remained, compelling us to take this action."

Municipal officials also stated that the first phase of this operation would focus on clearing the busiest areas. A second phase will target encroachments near Gamharia’s Lal Building.

Encroachments Cause Widespread Disruption

Encroachments across Adityapur have caused severe traffic bottlenecks, impacting residents’ daily lives. Complaints about delays and safety concerns prompted municipal authorities to intensify their efforts. Public spaces, including key roads, have become nearly impassable in certain areas due to illegal setups.

The Municipal Manager reiterated the administration’s determination. “Encroachers were warned and notified. Forceful removal will begin Wednesday,” the manager explained.

Response and Potential Challenges

Following the ultimatum, panic spread among encroachers, with some beginning to dismantle structures. However, others appear resistant, raising concerns of potential political resistance. Authorities have maintained that the campaign will continue as planned, regardless of opposition.

This is the first of several initiatives aimed at restoring public spaces and improving traffic conditions across Adityapur.
