MEDININAGAR – A fatal accident on Police Line Road near Major Chowk in Medininagar claimed the life of a motorcyclist and left another injured late Thursday night. The mishap occurred due to sand dumped on the road, causing the bike to skid and overturn.
The victims, Mukhram Dubey and Neeraj Kumar from Purvidiha, were traveling to Sudna when their motorcycle slipped on the sand spread across the road. Both were rushed to Medinirai Medical College Hospital by a patrolling team. Mukhram Dubey succumbed to his injuries, while Neeraj Kumar sustained serious injuries.
Protest and Roadblock
Following the incident, angry villagers from Purvidiha blocked the road near the accident site on Friday morning, demanding compensation for the victim’s family, a government job for a family member, and legal action against BJP leader Vinod Singh. Singh owns a commercial building under construction near the site, and sand had been dumped illegally on the road for the construction.
The protest caused significant traffic disruption for nearly five hours. Senior officials, including CO Amardeep Singh Balhotra, City Police Station In-Charge Devvrat Poddar, ASP Rakesh Kumar, and Sadar SDO, intervened to pacify the protesters, assuring them of compensation under government provisions and legal action against those responsible.
Administrative Action
The municipal corporation seized the dumped sand and fined Vinod Singh ₹25,000 for violating regulations. A notice was also issued to him regarding the unauthorized sand dumping. Traffic was restored to normalcy after assurances from the administration.
