MEDININAGAR – Former district councillor of Chhatarpur, Manoj Paswan, was arrested on Tuesday for the alleged murder of 65-year-old Bhola Paswan. The arrest follows a July 17 attack in Naudiha village, where a dispute over house construction escalated into violence.

Bhola Paswan was critically injured when 20-25 people, including Manoj Paswan, attacked him and his family with sticks, spears, and other weapons. He succumbed to his injuries on July 24 while undergoing treatment at RIMS Ranchi.

Police had already arrested two other suspects, Vinod Paswan and Ramanand Paswan, in connection with the incident. Acting on a tip-off, authorities apprehended Manoj Paswan in Japla and sent him to judicial custody on Wednesday.

According to Bhola Paswan’s son, Ajay Paswan, who filed the FIR, the attackers also harassed female family members during the assault. The dispute began when Ajay started reconstructing their ancestral house, prompting the accused to attack and demand the case be dropped.

Ajay alleged that the remaining suspects continue to threaten his family, creating an atmosphere of fear. The police are actively pursuing the absconding accused.
