MEDININAGAR – The body of a 12-year-old girl was discovered in a well in Taleya Babhandi village, Chainpur, on Monday, leading police to suspect a possible case of assault and murder.
The girl, last seen delivering stitched clothes to a nearby residence on Friday evening, did not return home, prompting her mother to file a missing person report at the Chainpur police station.
Following local reports, police discovered the girl’s body in the well, confirming her identity as the youngest daughter of the late M. Ansari, a man killed in a Naxal attack 12 years ago.
The girl’s mother, who supports her family by sewing clothes, had been living in her parental village with her three daughters since her husband’s death.
She recounted that her daughter would routinely deliver finished clothes to clients around the village.
According to preliminary investigations, police suspect the involvement of two local youths in the girl’s disappearance and death.
Palamu SP Rakesh Kumar Singh indicated that a thorough investigation is underway, with the aim of swiftly bringing those responsible to justice.
Local law enforcement officials, including Chainpur station in-charge Shri Ram Sharma and community leaders, were present at the scene as police recovered the body.
The incident has cast a pall of grief and shock over the village, with residents gathered in support of the bereaved family.
Police have assured the family and the community of a committed effort to resolve the case soon.
