JAMSHEDPUR – The Press Club of Jamshedpur has elected Manoj Singh as its new president in a closely watched ballot held at Nirmal Bhawan.

Singh emerged victorious with a substantial lead over his competitors in the presidential race.

The newly elected president secured 100 votes, defeating outgoing president Prashant Singh Putul.

Putul, in his bid for re-election, managed to garner 60 votes from the club members.

A third candidate, Sandeep Savarn, also contested for the top position, receiving 16 votes.

The election committee invalidated two votes due to technical issues, leaving 176 valid ballots for the presidential post.

In addition to the presidential contest, other key positions were also decided in this election.

Vinay Purti clinched the general secretary position with a significant margin of victory.

Purti secured 96 votes, surpassing the outgoing general secretary Anjani Pandey by 49 votes.

A third contender for the general secretary post, Kanhai Hembram, received 34 votes.

The treasurer’s position saw a competitive race between three candidates.

Ajay Mahato emerged victorious in this contest, securing the treasurer’s role with 89 votes.

Outgoing treasurer Vidyasagar Singh and candidate Abhishek Piyush trailed behind with 45 and 43 votes respectively.

The election drew active participation from 178 club members, reflecting high engagement in the process.

However, a few ballots were disqualified due to technical discrepancies during the counting.

An Election Conducting Committee, chaired by Brajbhushan Singh, oversaw the entire electoral process.

The committee ensured a fair and transparent election, with support from several members.

Voting commenced early in the morning and continued until 4 pm, followed by the vote counting.

To maintain order, the district administration deployed magistrates and police personnel at the venue.

After declaring the results, the election committee awarded certificates to the newly elected office bearers.

Both club members and district authorities received praise for maintaining a peaceful election environment.

The smooth conduct of the elections marked a significant day in the Press Club’s history.

This change in leadership is expected to bring new perspectives to the Jamshedpur Press Club’s operations.
