JAMSHEDPUR – Mango Municipal Corporation will soon manage its waste disposal locally, with a site identified near NH-33, behind Devghar Hill. This location, free of residential areas, has been approved for a one-acre waste management project.
The proposed site will host a transfer station for segregating dry and wet waste. Proper disposal of the segregated waste will be carried out to ensure systematic waste management. Officials believe this initiative will significantly contribute to making Mango cleaner and odor-free.
Currently, 20 metric tons of waste generated daily in Mango are dumped at a site near Domuhani under Sonari Police Station. This has led to complaints of foul smell and unsanitary conditions in the area.
Brijesh Srivastava, Circle Officer of Mango, stated, “One acre of government land behind Devghar Hill has been selected for the project.” East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal added that the project will be expedited after the election counting process is completed.
The initiative is expected to benefit the 2.5 lakh residents of Mango by addressing waste management challenges and creating a sustainable system for a cleaner city.
