Election Commission Announces Voting Dates, Results on November 23
Key Points:
• Jharkhand polls on Nov 13 and 20
• 2.06 crore voters to cast ballots
• Home voting option for 85+ citizens
NEW DELHI – The Election Commission has scheduled Jharkhand’s assembly elections for November, with voting to take place in two phases across the state’s 81 constituencies.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar revealed the polling dates for Jharkhand’s upcoming assembly elections.
The state will witness voting in two phases, with the first round scheduled for November 13 and the second on November 20.
The counting of votes and result declaration is set for November 23, well ahead of the current assembly’s term expiration on January 5, 2025.
In a move to enhance voter accessibility, the Election Commission has introduced a home voting option for citizens aged 85 and above.

Eligible voters can submit a 12D form to avail this facility, with the process being video recorded to ensure transparency.
The electoral exercise will involve a total of 2.06 crore voters across 29,562 polling booths.
These booths are distributed between urban and rural areas, with 5,042 in cities and 24,520 in villages.
Each booth is expected to serve an average of 881 voters, with 1,271 booths being managed entirely by women staff.
The Election Commission has also mandated that candidates with criminal records must disclose their legal issues in local newspapers, promoting transparency in the electoral process.
Reflecting on the previous assembly elections in 2019, political analyst Rajesh Kumar stated, “The Grand Alliance’s victory in 2019, securing 47 out of 81 seats, set the stage for Hemant Soren’s Chief Ministership. However, recent controversies have added an element of uncertainty to this election cycle.”
