SERAIKELA – A tragic collision between two heavy vehicles on the Saraikela-Tata road near Sanjay village has resulted in one fatality and one severe injury.
The accident occurred around 1:30 PM on Tuesday near Sanjay village.
A tipper-trailer carrying iron ore collided head-on with a Hyva truck transporting fly ash.
The impact was so severe that both drivers became trapped in their vehicle cabins.
Moreover, the tipper-trailer driver lost his life after being stuck in the wreckage.
Meanwhile, the Hyva truck driver sustained serious injuries in the crash.
Local residents assisted the police in rescuing the injured driver from the cabin.
Subsequently, he was rushed to Sadar Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat promptly arrived at the scene with his team.
In addition, they initiated rescue operations to extract the deceased driver.
The Hyva truck, bearing registration number JH02BP-5029, was reportedly overloaded with fly ash.
On the other hand, the tipper-trailer, numbered JH09AA-7172, was transporting iron ore pellets.
Eyewitnesses described the collision as extremely violent, trapping both drivers instantly.
At the time of reporting, efforts were still underway to remove the deceased driver’s body.
