RANCHI – Justice MS Ramachandra Rao has been sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.

The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Raj Bhawan on Wednesday.

Governor Santosh Gangwar administered the oath of office to Justice Rao.

Moreover, Chief Minister Hemant Soren attended the ceremony.

Acting Chief Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad was also present at the event.

The central government had issued a transfer notification for Justice Rao on September 21.

He was previously serving at the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

Furthermore, this appointment follows recent amendments to Supreme Court Collegium recommendations.

Justice Rao, born in 1966 in Hyderabad, has an impressive academic background.

He secured a gold medal in his LL.B. from Osmania University.

Additionally, Justice Rao holds an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge, UK.

His father, Justice M Jagannadha Rao, was a former Supreme Court judge.

On the other hand, his grandfather also served as a judge in the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Justice Rao’s legal career began with his enrollment as an advocate in 1989.
