Former minister dismisses charges, calls for thorough investigation
Key Points:
• Roy faces new case in Aahar Patrika scam, calls accusations baseless
• Alleges case filed by criminal associate of minister Banna Gupta
• Demands thorough probe, confident of innocence in tender spending
JAMSHEDPUR – Former minister Saryu Roy staunchly refutes accusations in the Aahar Patrika scam case, calling for a comprehensive investigation to clear his name.
Roy addressed the media at his Bistupur office, responding to the latest case filed against him. The politician expressed frustration over multiple accusations he deems unfounded.
"These repeated allegations are nothing but smoke and mirrors," Roy declared. "I challenge anyone to find a single irregularity in the Aahar Patrika spending."
The case, registered at Argora police station in Ranchi, was filed by Manoj Singh. Roy claims Singh has a shady background and is acting on behalf of Jharkhand minister Banna Gupta.
Undeterred by legal actions, Roy emphasized his commitment to transparency. He stressed that all funds were utilized within tender limits, leaving no room for misconduct.
The former minister took aim at Banna Gupta, criticizing his remarks. "Banna is an expert in milking the government," Roy asserted, accusing Gupta of abusing his position.
Roy questioned the strategy of filing multiple accusations on the same issue. He argued that if evidence existed, a single FIR should have sufficed.
According to Roy, the department’s failure to file an FIR in Ranchi led to Singh’s involvement. He described Singh as a close associate of the Congress party.
A local political analyst commented, "This case highlights the complex web of allegations and counter-allegations in Jharkhand politics. An investigation is crucial for even Saryu Roy so that he can clear his name and reinforce public trust."
Roy expressed confidence in his innocence, welcoming a comprehensive probe. He also raised concerns about the stagnant progress of a defamation case against him.
Reflecting on past legal battles, Roy drew parallels to his experiences during allegations against Lalu Yadav. He suggested these cases aim to deflect attention from others’ shortcomings.
As the controversy unfolds, Roy remains steadfast in his defense. The coming weeks will likely see further developments in this high-profile case.
