Villagers Thwart Illegal Tree Cutting in Tambakhoon Forest

Four arrested with cutting equipment; others flee in East Singhbhum incident

Vigilant locals catch four individuals illegally felling trees in Tambakhoon forest, East Singhbhum district.

JAMSHEDPUR – Villagers near Dhalbhumgarh apprehended four people illegally cutting trees in Tambakhoon forest, while others escaped during a late-night operation.

The incident unfolded on Tuesday night around 9 p.m. in the forest area between Narsinghgarh and Kanas.

Alert villagers noticed the illegal activity and took action to stop the tree-cutting operation.

While some members of the gang managed to flee under the cover of darkness, four were caught by the vigilant locals.

The apprehended individuals were promptly handed over to the Dhalbhumgarh police.

Law enforcement seized equipment used in the illegal activity, including a generator and cutting machine.

Two motorcycles belonging to the suspects were also confiscated from the scene.

Dhalbhumgarh police station in-charge, Rajendra Kumar Munda, confirmed the arrests and ongoing investigation.

The detained individuals claimed they were cutting trees on Raiati land and had been instructed to provide no-objection certificates.

Police are currently probing the veracity of these claims and the extent of the illegal tree-cutting operation.
