Jamshedpur Lok Sabha Elections: Home Voting, Postal Ballots, and Expenditure Monitoring Discussed
Ananya Mittal, the Jamshedpur District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner (DC), chaired a meeting with political party representatives at the DC office to discuss various aspects of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, ensuring a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
JAMSHEDPUR – In preparation for the Lok Sabha elections, the Jamshedpur District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ananya Mittal convened a meeting with political party representatives at the DC office, addressing crucial topics such as home voting, postal ballots, party representatives’ presence at dispatch and receiving centers, and monitoring candidates’ election expenditure.
The District Election Officer emphasized that arrangements are being made at all polling stations to provide necessary facilities, including sheds, wheelchair access, ramps, drinking water, and proper toilets, considering the heat and in accordance with Election Commission guidelines.
Voters aged 85 and above, as well as those with at least 40 percent disability, will be provided with the facility of home voting this time, as per the Election Commission’s guidelines, with a total of 226 voters in the district having applied for this service.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, PD ITDA cum Senior Officer Expenditure Cell Dipankar Chaudhary, and other officials.
Political parties were requested to deploy their representatives at the center on the day of EVM dispatch and receiving to ensure a fair and transparent process.
The process of voting through postal ballot in the district is set to commence from May 6.
It was stressed that candidates should maintain their election expenditure records properly and match the expenditure with the monitoring team thrice during the entire election process.
The District Election Officer assured that necessary security and law enforcement arrangements will be in place at all polling stations to ensure that voters can exercise their right in a fear-free environment.
Apart from home voting, vehicle facilities will be provided to voters aged 85 and above, as well as disabled individuals, to facilitate their access to the polling booths.
