National Safai Karamchari Commission VP addresses critical issues faced by sanitation workers in Jamshedpur.
JAMSHEDPUR – Anjana Panwar, VP of National Safai Karamchari Commission, held a crucial meeting to address concerns of sanitation workers.
Anjana Panwar, Vice President of the National Safai Karamchari Commission, convened a significant gathering at Sidhgora Town Hall to tackle long-standing issues faced by Safai Karamcharis in the region.
The meeting saw participation from numerous sanitation workers, union representatives, and officials from various municipal bodies, including Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (Jusco).
Key attendees included Ranjit Lohara, Additional Municipal Commissioner of Mango Municipal Corporation, and Krishna Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC).
Panwar addressed critical concerns such as salary structures, payment regularity, provision of protective gear, housing, and access to social security schemes.
"Every Safai Karamchari deserves timely payment for their hard work," Panwar emphasized, directing contractors to disburse salaries between the 1st and 7th of each month.
The discussion heavily focused on workers’ health and safety, with Panwar stressing the need for proper uniforms and regular health check-ups.
"Comprehensive health screenings every six months are crucial for early detection of potential health issues," stated a local health official present at the meeting.
Panwar instructed municipal officials to ensure revised honorarium rates and payment of any arrears to the workers.
She also mandated coverage under social welfare schemes like Awas Yojana and Pension Yojana, requesting a survey report within 15 days.
A stern directive was issued against assigning Safai Karamcharis to clean large drains or tanks, considering the life-threatening nature of such tasks.
The meeting concluded with commitments from officials to implement the directives, instilling a sense of optimism among the sanitation workers for improved working conditions and respect.
