Women of Kalindi Basti submit memorandum to Jamshedpur BDO, demand toilets before other schemes.
Residents of Kalindi Basti in Parsudih, Jamshedpur, have been struggling for years for proper toilet facilities and submitted a memorandum to the BDO.
JAMSHEDPUR – Residents of Kalindi Basti in Parsudih, Chandni Chowk, under Jugsalai Assembly, have demanded immediate construction of toilets in their area.
The residents, particularly the women, submitted a memorandum to the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Jamshedpur, demanding toilets before the implementation of other schemes like the Maiya Yojana.
Women of the community expressed their frustration, saying, "We have been fighting for years for toilets, but due to certain disputes, construction has not started. Even today, our sisters and daughters are forced to use the railway tracks for sanitation."
They highlighted the dangers they face, including the threat of wild animals in the dark and passing trains.
"One child was even bitten by a snake. In such conditions, we are living in a situation where it feels like blood is falling from our eyes, not tears," they lamented.
The residents urged for the immediate construction of toilets and drainage systems.
Vimal Baitha, speaking on behalf of the Scheduled Caste community in Kalindi Basti, said, "The situation of the women here is very serious. No public representative has been able to solve their problems. If a solution is not found soon, we will be forced to launch a major agitation."
The residents emphasized the urgency of the issue, demanding swift action from the authorities to ensure basic sanitation facilities.
